Here is a gorgeous hand carved wooden statue The Madonna and baby Jesus. Taking a closer look at this piece we can start to appreciate its rich iconography. Our Lady The Virgin Mary is seated with the Christ child on her lap. Both of them look towards the viewer with an inviting look.

Looking closely at the Child we can see that He holds a book - most likely the bible - in his left hand while offering a peace sign with his right. The peace sign is free from the main statue - meaning, it sticks away from the statue, it is not "blended" with the background (see up-close pic for detail).

The figure of Our Lady is also rich in significance. We see Our Lady enthroned wearing a crown upon her head, a religious robe and simple footwear. This piece was carved from a solid, single block of wood. It's in excellent shape. It has a hang wire attached to the back but also included is a small, beautiful wooden shelf should you choose to display the statue that way.
